Oxfam’s inequality reports demonstrate how today’s economic models have failed the world. Inequalities between individuals, groups, and nations are growing. Extractive economies have exacerbated a climate crisis that is destroying millions of lives, livelihoods, ecosystems, identity and wellbeing– in particular in the countries that are the least responsible, but the most impacted. Entrenched systems such as patriarchy, sexism, caste, and racism sustain the multiple and interlinked forms of inequality that are the root cause of poverty and injustice. We take sides against poverty and injustice everywhere, working with people, communities, partners and allies for just and sustainable solutions. We recognize that there is no economic, social, and environmental justice without gender justice.
Ending poverty and injustice requires more than solo actions —it demands active collaborations. Through the International Civil Society Centre, my teams and I have gained access to powerful tools for strategic foresight, rich resources on civic space, and, most importantly, spaces for honest, transformative dialogue.

Oxfam’s Global Strategy to 20230 focuses on Just Economies, Gender Justice, Climate Justice and Accountable Governance. We fight for a future that is equal, just and fair – one in which people have equal opportunities and rights, and one in which we can all flourish, not just survive. We envision a feminist future of lasting gender justice and long-term transformation of all systems of power, where all people enjoy their rights and autonomy; living a life of dignity, safety, and joy in a just and sustainable world. We are committed to center decolonial and feminist practice, because supporting women, girls, and people of diverse gender identities, their movements and their organizations is the most effective and powerful way to drive change. We actively stand with and support intersectional feminist activism, leadership and movements in their struggles for the realization of rights, equality and justice for all. Recognizing the interconnected systems of oppression, we commit to challenge racism, colonialism, economic and ecological collapse and all other forms of injustice and discrimination.
These connections have helped us reimagine how we shift power and decolonize development. The ICSC doesn’t just convene—it helps us all to catalyse on our connections. Thank you ICSC for being a bridge-builder and a space-holder for bringing us together to work on the changes we all seek.
