Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy
Our goal is to promote equal opportunities for all employees and job applicants. Each employee is respected, supported, valued and enabled to give their best.
We do not accept any discrimination following the universal human rights standards: “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.” – Article 2 of the Human Rights Declaration.
We oppose all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination and are centered on the value of respect. Therefore, we actively encourage and enable our partners, events and programme participants and contributors to be part and parcel of our diversity, equity and inclusion policy.
Our commitments
Within our workplace and in all events, programmes and initiatives we contribute to, we abide by the below commitments:
- To create an environment that promotes dignity and respect for everyone, in which individual differences and the contributions of all are recognised and valued.
- To not tolerate any form of intimidation, bullying, or harassment, and take actions against it.
- To support anyone who feels they have been subject to discrimination to safely raise their concerns so we can apply corrective measures (see also the Centre’s whistleblower policy).
- To encourage all employees, the Centre community and the partners we work with to treat everyone with dignity and respect and follow these commitments.
- To make training, development, and progression opportunities available to all staff.
- To exercise leadership that values people and cultivates a positive and fear-free work culture.
- To foster the representation of diverse voices across our work, acknowledging the connection between multiple discriminations
- To strive for accessibility in different aspects of the Centre’s work, including our events, digital platforms, communication channels etc., to accommodate individuals with disabilities and promote inclusivity as much as possible.
- To support the work of the DEI Task Force and regularly review the Centre’s policies, strategies, practices and procedures accordingly to ensure that commitments are being fulfilled.
We work on enhancing diversity in participation and contributions, particularly striving for communities that are being served by our shareholders to have an important representation and say in our work. Inclusiveness means foremost making a difference for people who have been marginalised and being steered by their needs and priorities.
The Centre ensures that all employees and shareholders are well-informed about our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policy, underscoring their obligation to adhere to its requirements and actively promote fairness. Furthermore, the policy is effectively communicated to funding agencies, stakeholders, partners, and prospective job applicants, as appropriate.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policy is fully supported by senior management and will be regularly discussed with staff. We are committed to making continuous progress with efforts to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-discrimination at the Centre.
Our policy and practices are monitored on an ongoing basis and the Task Force is responsible for launching initiatives to ensure that diversity and inclusion is continually promoted and exercised. We use concrete instruments like staff surveys, event evaluations, feedback loops with partners and our safe-guarding and whistleblowing routines to implement, promote and reflect on the above commitments.
