CBM focuses its work through three key areas: Inclusive Health, Inclusive Humanitarian Action and Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID).

Disability-inclusive development is the guiding framework for all our work and the central theme driving our activities and impact. We believe this approach is the most effective way to bring lasting, positive change to persons with disabilities living in poverty and to their communities.

Inclusive Health

In this field we are promoting equitable access to healthcare for all, particularly persons with disabilities and other marginalised groups. It addresses barriers to care, advances equity, and fosters participation, making a significant contribution to universal health coverage. We work with government health systems at all levels to ensure scalability and sustainable impact.

Inclusive Humanitarian Action

Guided by the four humanitarian principles and aligned with global standards, IHA addresses immediate needs while building resilience and promoting sustainable recovery—especially in protracted crises. This approach aims to help affected populations achieve independence from long-term humanitarian assistance.

Community-Based Inclusive Development

CBID supports disability-inclusive development at the community level, translating the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the 2030 Agenda with its Sustainable Development Goals into local action. This human rights-based, people-centred, cross-sectoral approach strengthens inclusive, responsive and accountable communities. We partner with local groups, persons with disabilities and the organisations representing them, and governments to advance rights through capacity building, research, and the development of legislation, policies and strategies.

CBM has been a member of the International Civil Society Centre (ICSC) since 2009 and actively contributes to strategic initiatives, events and expert groups.

Collaboration with the Centre enables us to exchange with international partners, jointly develop new approaches, and strengthen our impact for persons with disabilities worldwide. Our Membership in the ICSC is an important element for CBM in addressing global challenges together with other organisations and advancing our vision of an inclusive world.
