As narratives increasingly shape how people understand the world around them, they are becoming a critical area of focus for civil society organisations seeking to advance social change. Our virtual learning session invites you to deepen your understanding of narrative change as both a strategy and a practice. We will by joined by DAKILA, a Philippines-based organisation leading a regional community of practice on narrative approaches in response to increasingly populist and authoritarian dynamics, and in support of promoting human rights and democracy.
Drawing on their experience from Southeast Asia, colleagues from DAKILA will share insights from their pioneering work, including their experimentation with concepts such as creative resistance, disruptive kindness, and radical empathy. The interactive session will explore what narratives are (and are not), unpack a practice-based framework for narrative work, and examine how power shapes the stories that influence societies.
This is an opportunity not only to learn, but also to reflect on and strengthen your own approaches to narrative work to protect civic space and drive social change.
