The aim of the UN World Data Forum is to spur data innovation, nurture partnerships, mobilize high-level political and financial support for data, and build a pathway to better data for sustainable development.

The Leave No One Behind Partnership will be hosting a side event on Friday 15 November from 13:15 to 14:15 COB (19:15 – 20:15 CET).

The side event aims to advance the Leave No One Behind agenda through inclusive data. This event will highlight three critical elements for progress: data prioritisation, disaggregation and intersectionality. These pillars are essential but can only reach their full potential through the integration of Citizen Generated Data (CGD). CGD offers a unique opportunity to fill gaps in official data by incorporating valuable information collected by civil society groups that is often overlooked in traditional reporting.

We will explore how citizen-generated data can improve official government information systems, drawing on successful examples from countries such as Bangladesh, Malawi and Vietnam. These countries have pioneered collaborations between civil society organisations and national statistical offices to ensure that high quality, verified data is used to inform public policy and decision-making.

The event will also launch the Copenhagen Framework, a new structure to guide the integration of citizens’ roles in data activities and promote strategic actions for both the citizen data and statistical communities.

The side event is organised by the International Civil Society Centre, Presidential Agency for International Cooperation of Colombia APC Colombia; Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD); Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS); UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO); MSD United Way Vietnam.
