In partnership with the CyberPeace Institute, the Centre is convening a series of SANE curated conversations on cybersecurity. The events aim at exchanging know-how and strengthening capacities on how to implement data protection, prevent and mitigate cyberattacks, and promote sustainable support to civil society partners. We particularly focus on concrete examples and enable exchange of experience, lessons learned as well as best practices among ICSOs and CSOs.

The SANE curated conversation on 22 February will focus on “Promoting sustainable cybersecurity support to local civil society”. In many countries, ICSOs implement their projects in collaboration with local CSOs and civil society partners who work directly with local communities and vulnerable populations. Local CSOs and partners collect data, share (personal) information of people involved in projects and manage funds, often with varying levels of preparation for possible digital risks, and thus potentially run the danger of becoming easy targets for cybercriminals. Therefore, strengthening cybersecurity knowledge and expanding technical skills should not only be a priority of local civil society actors alone, but also of ICSOs to better support their local partners. During the curated conversation, we will spotlight different initiatives designed to provide cybersecurity support at the local level.

The SANE curated conversations are closed virtual events dealing with different civic space issues and providing a safe space to share experience, challenges and learnings. If you are interested in learning more, reach out to Eva Gondorová, Project Manager.
