Hard Talk (date and time tbc)
second half of June
Additionally, the Centre will include a CEO clinic on Power Shift on its annual Vision Works event for the CEOs and Board Chairs. We aim at inviting some Power Shift Mini Lab and Hard Talk participants to take part virtually in the CEO Clinic on 16 September, more information on this soon.
In 2021, the Centre continues its Power Shift project aiming to strengthen ICSOs’ impact by moving towards a more effective and legitimate distribution of powers, roles and responsibilities in their governance. Co-organised together with Ed Boswell of Conner Advisory, this year the Centre brings the Power Shift community together for the third time.
After examining the power imbalances between Northern and Southern ICSOs and focusing on the golden triangle of power, governance and organisational intent in the 2018 Power Shift Lab and exploring how to address the most crucial dimensions of power shift, (incl. overcoming barriers, improving accountability and engaging with the right people and allies) at the 2020 Power Shift Lab, this year’s focus is on reviewing the progress systematically on three occasions:
- Mini Lab (16–17 March; virtual) will focus on power shift progress to date (incl. drafting or recapping statement of intent, stakeholder assessment, degree of difficulty and assessing progress);
- Hard Talk event (second half of June; virtual) including open conversations with partners, sceptics, spoilers and donors on progress made with power shift;
- CEO clinic (16 September; virtual) to share the ambitious approaches with CEOs and/or Board Chairs as part of the Vision Works event and to develop guidance on how to progress. We aim at inviting some Power Shift Mini Lab and Hard Talk participants to take part virtually in the CEO Clinic on 16 September (tbc).
Attendees at the Power Shift Mini Lab and Hard Talk event will be (Deputy) CEOs, Senior Leaders in charge of governance and Board Members as well as leaders from Southern national or regional chapters. Each participating organisation will bring at least two participants from different entities with the aim to bring at least one peer from a partner, implementing organisation or chapter from the Global South. We also seek donor involvement and experiences from outside the sector to join the group in the June Hard Talk event.
The participation fee will be € 1,200 for each organisation, and will cover two participants. Additional participants will be charged € 500 each. Partner organisations may attend at the invitation of the participating organisation and will not be charged. Up to two local partner organisations can be registered free of charge to attend the Mini-Lab and the June Hard Talk event. Shareholders and Full Core Supporters of the Centre receive a 20% discount of the participation fee.
