How can social changemakers get better at not just adapting to change, but actively engineering it?
Foresight practitioner Krizna Gomez has written JustLabs’ new ‘Guide to Foresight in the Social Change Field’ and is a passionate advocate of why foresight needs to become part of the DNA of the social change field. She makes a convincing case of why we need to ‘go get our feet wet, imagine possible futures, and own what is to come’ in this recent blog.
Krizna is also a leading practitioner and thinker on narratives in the human rights field and also on populism and civil society (she co-authored the Centre’s first report in 2019 on Civil Society Innovation and Populism in a Digital Era).
In this interactive hour, Krizna will share some of her insights from leading futures work with organisations – both big and small – in the social change field around the world, as well as activists and creatives, and why this new guide is needed to ‘demystify’ foresight. This is often with people who are under stress and working in volatile contexts and find it hard to make the time and mental space to engage in futures thinking, helping them see not just the value but – critically – manageable easy steps they can take to enter into new kinds of conversation which empower their work. Krizna will also present some simple visual outcomes of applying these steps to look at the future of media and information, and the kind of areas of new exploration this can generate for social change organisations and leaders.
There will be a good amount of time for you to engage directly – with one of the best communicators we’ve worked with! – on how to build space for futures thinking in difficult and stressed times, and how you might be able to use the Guide to help your organisations and networks.
