The International Civil Society Centre’s project Accelerating Inclusive Power Shift seeks to support International Civil Society Organisations (ICSOs) and the wider sector with tools, best practice, and discussion space to become more inclusive and power-balanced.

In the second dialogue between civil society stakeholders and donors the Centre will raise the topic of rethinking risk and compliance and how new approaches can enable more equitable and impactful donor-recipient relations. With this event, the International Civil Society Centre in collaboration with the Kenya Community Development Foundation wishes to convene influential practitioners with diverse experiences around the topic of risk and compliance, with the aim to promote partnerships rooted in mutual accountability.

Objectives

The overarching aim of the discussion is to contribute to the strengthening of ICSO-donor joint steps to foster more equitable partnerships with Global South-rooted organisations by addressing the drawbacks and challenges of the current risk and compliance system. More specifically the event aims to:

  • Highlight emerging good practices related to progressive funding modalities and trust-based partnerships that address the needs and perspectives of local change makers
  • Enable the dialogue between donors, ICSOs and local organisations and create  a community of practice to jointly overcome the structures and narratives that prevent more substantial and systemic power shift.

The outcome of the dialogue will create a building block for joint action and commitment and a space for ICSOs, funders and grassroots organisations to connect, collaborate and learn from each other’s practices. Further, the dialogue will represent an opportunity for stakeholders interested in the RINGO prototype to engage with its development and next iterations.
