AI chatbots like chatGPT are all the buzz in the digital zeitgeist. The implications for many businesses and educational processes are many. Many more implications are yet to be known. But what we do know is that these platforms are changing the way we approach work and ultimately how we streamline processes in our daily work.
Data gathering as part of the work of social enterprises has previously been a long and arduous task but chatbots like CHAT GPT ar freeing up lots of time for non-profits to focus on the development and implementation of organisational strategies
In this digital dialogue we look at what this new phenomena means for CSOs working across the global South, particularly non-profits that lack resources for research, fundraising, marketing, data analysis, project management and other organisational processes.
Some important questions that we may need to ask include:
- How do we integrate AI chatbots in our work without losing people-centred approaches to CSO work?
- What are these AI chatbots likely to do for us in the future?
- What does this mean for job security in a society where there are limited job prospects?
- What does it mean for the ever growing inequalities in our society?
- Will these tools become a crutch for society’s ability to learn and think independently?
Ultimately these AI tools present many opportunities and risks. The most important question is how we use these ethically and leverage them for societal good.
