The International Civil Society Centre, is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a discussion titled ‘Equality Tech – Empowering Women and Girls through Technology’ as part of its #DigitalDialogues Series.

While digital technologies continue to change the lives of billions around the globe, more than half of humanity is not connected to the internet. Many more are under-connected, limited by slow internet speeds and high costs. Women and girls are less likely to have access to the internet, to have digital literacy, or to make a living with digital jobs.

However, there are more than 10 million organisations making up civil society, and they have critical roles to play in enabling the power shift towards inclusive and equitable digitalisation of society – as rights representatives, witnesses and watchdogs, service providers, and channels to reach historically underserved and marginalised communities. The next digital dialogue intends to showcase successful approaches on empowering women and girls through technology. Civil Society actors will present their projects that clearly show that digital marginalisation can and should be overcome.

The panel discussion will be an exercise in knowledge sharing among civil society actors. Moreover, it will allow a peep view of the Centre’s report on civil society innovation and digital power shift, where civil society actors routinely demonstrate the power of innovation.
